Nippon Music Foundation of Japan strives to make global contributions through music, the universal language for all people. Nippon Music Foundation acts as a custodian for some of the world's finest stringed instruments, including those made by Antonio Stradivari and Guarneri del Gesu. The Foundation aims to enhance music culture both domestically and internationally, and one of its main objectives today is to loan out these exquisite instruments free of charge to world-renowned musicians as well as young promising artists.

　Nippon Music Foundation is committed to preserving and maintaining these special stringed instruments, regarded as cultural assets of the world, so that they can be enjoyed by future generations. The Foundation also organizes charity concerts around the world in which the performers play the instruments loaned to them by the Foundation. These concerts provide opportunities for classical music lovers everywhere to enjoy the exquisite timbre of these superb stringed instruments.

　Nippon Music Foundation also gives grants to support a variety of musical projects, such as concerts, workshops and seminars. These projects aim to advance performance technique, to enhance international cultural exchanges, to promote public interest in music, and to foster charitable activities through the performance of music. 　財団法人日本音楽財団は、西洋クラシック音楽を中心とした「音楽分野における国際交流」事業を柱とし、世界の音楽界に貢献する活動を積極的に展開している。

　まず、ストラディヴァリやグアルネリ・デル・ジェスらによって製作された世界最高峰と言われる弦楽器を収集・保全し、それらの弦楽器を次世代に継承するための「保管者」としての役割を担っている。そして日本音楽財団は、世界的文化遺産といわれるこれらの弦楽器を、国籍を問わず世界の一流演奏家や若手有望演奏家に無償で貸与する、いわゆる弦楽器名器の貸与事業を実施している。この貸与事業を通じ、西洋クラシック音楽の発展に対する日本の国際的な貢献を果たそうとしており、今では当財団の貸与事業は世界からも期待されている。また、日本音楽財団はその名器を使用している演奏者の協力のもと、世界各地においてチャリティ・コンサート等を開催し、世界のクラシック音楽愛好家に名器の妙音を届けている。

　日本音楽財団はまた、音楽関係団体の行う音楽の振興を目的とした演奏会、講習会、研修会等の各種事業に対して助成を行っている。また、欧米の音楽関係団体や音楽学院との関係を密にして、音楽関係の国際的なネットワークを構築し、そのネットワークを通じ、人物交流、国際音楽コンクールを含む国際的音楽行事への支援を行っている。　http://www.nmf.or.jp
