Born in Gumma, Tsuyoshi Tabei began piano studies at age 9. He set aside his pursuit of a musical career for a time and graduated from Waseda University with a degree in economics. Returning to music, he is now studying at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music(Geidai), where he has worked with Masahisa Endo, Kohtaroh Sato and James Lockhart. While at Geidai, he led a performance of Lehar's Merry Widow. In May 2001, he conducted the Faure Requiem with the Gumma Chamber Orchestra and in 2002 will lead a performance of Tchaikovsky,s Symphony No.4 with the Hitachi Philharmonic.

　

群馬生まれ。9歳からピアノを始める。音楽教育に加え、一般教育も重視するために早稲田大学政治経済学部を卒業するまで音楽活動は控えめにした。現在は、東京芸術大学指揮科に在学し、遠藤正久、佐藤功太郎、ジェイムス・ロックハートに師事。芸大では、レハーの「陽気な未亡人」を指揮。2001年5月には群馬室内オーケストラとフォーレのレクイエムを指揮。2002年には日立フィルハーモニックとチャイコフスキーの交響曲第4番を指揮する予定である。

　

　

　

Hirofumi Yoshida, a native of Funabashi, studied conducting under Yasuhiko Shiozawa and Junichi Hirokami at the Tokyo College of Music, where he also studied piano, double bass and musicology. Following a post-graduate conducting diploma from the Tokyo College of Music, he went to Europe to study with Hans Graf, Myung-Whun Chung and Yuri Temirkanov, among others. He has been the assistant conductor at the Tokyo Nikikai Opera Theater and for a number of other opera productions, conducting a wide repertoire, including Carmen, La Traviata, Turandot, Cosi fan tutte and Die Zauberflote. He is currently the opera director at the Ichikawa Opera Foundation and the Funabashi City Opera. With the support of Japan's Cultural Affairs Office, Mr.Yoshida has recently been working in Europe as assistant to Jun Markl at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and also as assistant to Shuya Okatsu at the Malmo Music Theater in Sweden.

　

千葉県船橋市生まれ。東京音楽大学で指揮を汐澤安彦、広上淳一に学び、一方でピアノ、コントラバス、音楽学も学んだ。東京音楽大学大学院を卒業後、欧州で指揮をハンス・グラフ、チョン・ミュン・フン、ユリ・テミルカノフらに師事。東京二期会歌劇場の指揮補佐を務め、カルメン、椿姫、トゥーランドット、コシ・ファン・トゥッティ、魔笛等数々のレパートリーを指揮。現在は市川オペラ財団及び船橋シティーオペラのオペラ監督を務める。文化庁の助成を受け、ミュンヘンのババリアン州立オペラでジュン・マークル、スウェーデンのマルメ音楽劇場では岡津修也の助手を務めた。
