Born into a musical family in Tokyo, Hideaki Hirai studied piano, violin, cello and composition from an early age. He attended the Toho High School of Music before earning a degree in political science from the University of Rochester in New York, where he also studied conducting under David Effron at the Eastman School of Music. He completed a master's degree in conducting under Frederik Prausnitz at the Peabody Institute and pursued further study with Otakas Trhlik at the Janacek Academy in Brno, Czech Republic. He has recently conducted a number of leading Japanese orchestras, including the New Japan Philharmonic, the Tokyo Symphony and the Japan Shinsei Symphony Orchestra at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. He has conducted a number of European ensembles, including the Janacek Philharmonic, the Karlsbad Symphony and the Czech Virtuosi, of which he was appointed Principal Conductor following his first prize at the Hradec Kralove International Conducting Competition (1997).

　

東京で音楽家族の一員として生まれる。幼年時からピアノ、ヴァイオリン、チェロ、作曲を学ぶ。桐朋学園高等学校を経て、ニューヨークのロチェスター大学政治学科卒業。同時にイーストマン音楽学校でデヴィット・エフロンに師事して指揮を学ぶ。ピーボディ音楽院でフレデリック・プラウスニッツに師事し指揮法修士号を取得後、さらにチェコのヤナチェック音楽院でオタカス・リュリックに師事し研鑚を積む。最近は、新日本フィルハーモニー、東京シンフォニー、新星日本交響楽団などの日本のオーケストラと一連の演奏活動をしている。ヤナック・フィルハーモニック、カールスバッド・シンフォニー、チェコ・ヴィルツオーソなど欧州のアンサンブルの指揮も経験。1997年フラデック・クラローブ国際指揮者コンクールで1位受賞後には、チェコ・ヴィルツオーソから首席指揮者の指名を受けた。

　

　

　

Born in Tokyo, Sho Itoh began his musical studies at the piano, becoming a student of Jorg Demus at age 10. He continued his piano studies with Takashi Saiki, Andre Sebastien Savoie, and Kazuoki Fujii. As a pianist he won several top prizes in Japanese young artist competitions. He then went on to study violin, theory and composition, and, most recently, conducting. After graduating from the Toho Music High School, he was accepted into the prestigious conducting course of the Toho Music University under Hideomi Kuroiwa. He recently conducted, on short notice, the Cracow State Philharmonic in a concert in Tokyo.

　

東京生まれ。10歳からヨルグ・デムスのもとでピアノを学ぶ。その後も斉木隆、アンドレ・セバスチャン、藤井一興らに師事。ピアニストとして日本の数々の若手音楽家コンクールで1位を受賞。その後ヴァイオリン、音楽理論、作曲の勉強を始め、最近では指揮を学んでいる。桐朋学園高等学校を卒業後、桐朋学園大学の指揮科で黒岩英臣のもと指揮法を学ぶ。最近ではクラコフ市立管弦楽団の東京公演で指揮台に上った。

　

　

　

Born in Shenyang, Ming Liu began piano studies at the Shenyang Middle School of Music, which is attached to the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, before being accepted into the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he studied both orchestral conducting(with Xiao-Tong Haung)and piano(with Hong-Jun Zhang). Following his graduation, he was named Resident Conductor of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, and has worked closely with a number of orchestras in China. Since 1998, he has been pursuing advanced studies in the United States. He has received master's degree in conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music studying under Gerhard Samuel. He is currently completing a master's degree in piano under Abby Simon at the University of Houston, where he is also studying conducting with Franz Anton Krager. He is the founder and director of the Young Hua Xia Orchestra in Houston.

　

藩陽音楽院付属中学校でピアノを始め、上海音楽院に進み、指揮をXiao-Tong Haungに師事し、ピアノをHong-Jun Zhangに師事した。卒業と同時に広州シンフォニー・オーケストラの専属指揮者に指名され、中国の数々のオーケストラを指揮した。1998年からは米国に留学し、シンシナティ大学音楽科で指揮をゲルハード・サミュエルに師事し、修士号を獲得。現在はヒューストン大学でピアノの修士号を得るために修学しながら、指揮をフランツ・アントン・クラガーに師事している。さらにヒューストンにYoung Hua Xiaオーケストラを設立し監督を務めている。

　

　

　

Ki-Sun Sung is currently Music Director of the New York Sinfonietta(which he helped to found in 1993)and conductor of the Juilliard Pre-College Chamber Orchestra. He began his musical studies on the violin at age 6 and switched to the viola at age 15. A native of Seoul, he received his bachelor's degree from the Seoul National University, his master's degree in viola from the Juilliard School, and an artist diploma in conducting from the Curtis Institute of Music, studying with Otto-Werner Mueller. He has been an apprentice conductor under Daniel Barenboim at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and participated in the National Conducting Institute with Leonard Slatkin and the National Symphony Orchestra in 2000. Mr.Sung has conducted the Curtis Orchestra, the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Amsterdam Symphony and many other ensembles.

　

現在、ニューヨーク・シンフォニエッタ(1993年設立に尽力)音楽監督、ジュリアード・プレカレッジ室内オーケストラの指揮者。6歳からヴァイオリンを始め15歳でヴィオラに転向した。ソウル生まれ。ソウル国立大学を卒業、ジュリアード音楽院修士(ヴィオラ)、カーティス音楽学院でオットワーナー・ミューラーに師事し音楽修士号を取得。これまでにシカゴ・シンフォニー・オーケストラでダニエル・バレンボイムの指揮補佐を務め、ナショナル指揮インスティチュートにレオナルド・スラットキンと共に出演した。2000年にはナショナル・シンフォニー・オーケストラを指揮。カーティス・オーケストラ、リスボン・メトロポリタン・オーケストラ、ソウル・フィルハーモニック・オーケストラ、ニュー・アムステルダム・シンフォニー他数々のアンサンブルを指揮している。
