B. About This Booklet
The idea to publish this booklet is traceable to Spring 2001, when the six co-organizers were exchanging their views concerning detail plans for the Global Forum. Dr. Rezaul Karim, Chief of the Environment Section of UN ESCAP, made a proposal to seek to publish important findings of the Global Forum, especially from the presentations of participatory and experiential environmental learning programs. Since the Global Forum constituted a rare and precious occasion for some of the most prominent participatory-experiential environmental programs of the world to assemble, OISCA and all other co-organizers enthusiastically upheld the suggestion. We realized that it would be a way to positively enhance the contribution of the Global Forum to international environmentalism. Thanks to the understanding and generosity of the Nippon Foundation, which agreed to solely finance this project, we are very pleased that we have this opportunity to reach those who were not present at the Global Forum.
