7. SPECIAL EVENTS AND PROGRAMS
"Wind in Your Hair: Sport Against Drugs" is a non-governmetal sports humanitarian campaign which is going on in Slovenia the fourth year. In the years 1996 and 1997, "Wind in Your Hair" has taken place on the entire territory of Slovenia in 22 different towns, while in 1998, 35 towns participated in the campaign with over 10,000 participants. This year 50 towns and 15,000 youngsters participated in the campaign. We are always open for new ideas and local particularities, like dancing, painting, discussions about drugs, etc.

According to all domestic and foreign investigations, walking is the most popular and useful mass physical activity in all life-periods.
Therefore, the Sports Union of Slovenia in cooperation with the Cindi Slovenia, the European network "Europe on the Move", and the UKK Finnish Sports Institute took a decision that: A project "Slovenia on the Move", embracing the entire state, be started in the year 1999. The project includes the informative and educational materials as well as seminars for expert associates, and also stimulating campaigns for the popularization of walking as the most useful and widely spread sports activity for all generations. During these campaigns, programs of walking will be actually presented, and the interested people will be included into the program and they will be controlled on expert level and their results will be measured. "Slovenia on the Move" is intended for all age groups, but the emphasis is laid on the older population.
