SPORT IN THE COUNTRY
1. TRADITIONAL SPORT AND GAMES
Ssirum: one of the traditional Korean Sports. It is similar with wrestling, but its match begins with two men grdsping each other's sappa or waist cords and using their power and skill. Today, Ssirum is a very popular spectator sport.
Taekwondo: now officially recognized around the world, as an official Olympic sport. It is not only martial art for selfdefence, but it is also a means of cultivating one's own character through the training of body and mind.
Nolttwigi (Seesaw): a traditional folk game for women. Like a Western seesaw, a long piece of board is placed with its center supported by rigid piles of straw. Two persons taking turns jumping on their end of the board play it. It is enjoyed on traditional holidays.

3. NATURE OF THE ORGANIZATION
SAKA is a NGO promoting Sport for All movement within the country without government financial assistance but with membership fees and contributions.
4. OBJECTIVES AND MISSIONS
As the modern society becomes industrialized and materialized, we are trying to promote Sport for All movement through sound sports, leisure and health programs, thus leveling up the citizens' health, morale and bright society. We are trying to cover all age groups through various programs and activities, aiming at lifetime sport activities.

8. PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE TARGET GROUPS
1) Infant and Pre-school children (Age 0 to 5) :
Most sports clubs conduct 'Infant swimming class'.
2) School children (Age 6 to 12) :
After school hours and during summer/winter vacations, the swimming conducted by sports clubs is getting popular.
3) Adolescents (Age 13 to 16) :
Same program as above but higher levels.
4) Adult women : Aerobic dances fitness clubs and swimming is getting popular.
5) Employees at work-sites : Still much to be improved. Some table-tennis and basketball and soccer are partially conducted.
6) General people in the community :
Walking and jogging are done on school grounds and hillsides. Weekend and early morning hiking done.
7) Aged people : National and city parks are opened to senior citizens, free of charge.
8) People with disabilities : Limited sport facilities are available for the disabled people.

Many leaders and organizations are interested in this movement. However it is rather difficult to manage sports centers without government financial assistance. Low interesting rate is very much preferable. High water and electricity charges are another obstacles as well as import duties on sports equipment. Korea is still in the initial stage of Sport for All movements and through international concern and co-operations, we hope to solve our problems in the days to come.
