"All known names of mineral concentrates are included in the appendix for entry of each cargo as the cargoes categorized into GROUP "A" but the coverage is not exhaustive."
Re: General
(6) The entry for "CALCINED PYRITES" is missed.
2.2 DESCRIPTION
Re: "MINERAL CONCENTRATES"
(7) After dividing the entry of "MINERAL CONCENTRATES", the description in this item should be read as follows:
"Refined ore in which variable components has been enriched."
2.3 CHARACTERISTICS
Re: "MINERAL CONCENTRATES" and
"METAL SULPHIDE CONCENTRATES BC No.035"
(8) The description in the column for "Approximate TML" should be substituted by a value or "No Information".

Re: GROUP "A or C"
(10) The following cargoes should be categorized into GROUP "A or C":
ILMENITE SAND

Re: GROUP "A and B"
(11) The following cargoes should be categorized into GROUP "A and B":
METAL SULPHIDE CONCENTRATES
PEAT MOSS
CALCINED PYRITES New
Re: COAL
(12) The GROUP should be "B (and A)"
Re: STOWAGE FACTOR, BULK DENSITY and SIZE
(13) Stowage factor(m3/t) in the list has a range, in general. However, stowage factors of some cargoes are written by a fixed value, such as 0.43 in FLY ASH. Basically, stowage factor might not be limited by a fixed value. Therefore, the word "approximate" is needed in the column of "STOWAGE FACTOR", if the value is limited in a single value. Similarly, the word "approximate" is needed in the column of "BULK DENSITY", if the value is limited in a single value. Furthermore, the size of some cargoes are specified, such as CARBORUNDUM. In such cases, the word "approximate" is needed in the column of "SIZE".
2.4 FIRE PROTECTION IN CARGO SPACES
Re: Cargoes for which a fixed gas fire-extinguishing system is ineffective
(14) I propose the following description for the cargoes listed in table 2 of MSC/Circ.671:
"A fixed gas fire extinguishing system will not put out a fire in the cargo hold for this cargo. See the Emergency Procedures."
List of Cargoes
Aluminium nitrate
Ammonium nitrate
Ammonium nitrate fertilizers Type A (A1)
