Executive summary: This document provides the results of the investigation on the stowage and segregation requirements for freight containers on containerships with partially weatherproof hatchway covers.

Background
1 At the last session, the Sub-Committee agreed to develop stowage and segregation requirements for freight containers on containerships with partially weatherproof hatchway covers and Member States were invited to submit comments and proposals on this issue (DSC 5/13, paragraphs 2.4 to 2.6).
Investigation on stowage and segregation requirements
2 The Ship Research Institute, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, in cooperation with the Dangerous goods working group of The Japanese Shipowners' Association, investigated the stowage and segregation requirements for such ships and considered principles and examples of the requirements. Japan provides the results of the investigation for information, because it considers that the information can be a basis for dscussion on this issue. The annex of this document is the results of the investigation.
