2.5 Research and Development
The company has a declared aim of focussing its R&D activities on a small number of new, high-impact products and on the emissions and functionality of existing products. In respect of the latter, R&D work explores improving engine reliability, prolonging times between overhauls, cutting emissions and lowering operating costs.
Over the past 3 years the amount of money spent of R&D, both in absolute terms and as a proportion of net sales, has declined slightly.
