EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
MAN B&W Diesel A/S traces its roots as far back as 1843, starting as a mechanical workshop in Copenhagen. Over time an engineering works and then a small shipbuilding yard were established, which later evolved into the company Burmeister & Wain.
B&W Diesel A/S was established in 1979, and the shares sold to MAN. Today MAN B&W Diesel A/S is a member of MAN B&W AG, based in Munich. The MAN B&W Diesel Group has a turnover of nearly 100 billion Yen and employs more than 6,000 people, around one third of them at MAN B&W A/S in Denmark. MAN B&W Diesel dominates the propulsion market in respect of vessels of 100gt or more.
MAN B&W Diesel Holeby specialises in the production of four-stroke Gensets for marine and stationary applications, and accompanying fuel mixing systems. The company can trace its roots as far back as 1883, with commercial production of diesel engines beginning in 1910 and in 1913 the company supplied its first marine diesel engine. In 1923 Holeby Diesel started supplying diesel generators to Burmeister & Wain and in 1930 B&W acquired Holeby Diesel.
