エルガー：愛の挨拶
Elgar: Salut d'amour
イギリスのヴァイオリニストでオルガン奏者・作曲家でもあったエルガー(1857-1934)が1888年にピアノ曲として作曲し、愛妻アリスに捧げた曲。翌年には弦楽器用にも編曲されたこの曲は、親しみやすいロマン的な旋律がやわらかに歌われ、広く愛されている。
Edward Elgar (1857-1934) is one of the most significant English composers. Elgar first composed this piece in 1888 for piano and dedicated to his beloved wife, Alice. Re-arrangement for the violin was made a year after. Elgar's refined musical gifts for melody are in full evidence in this charming and adored piece.
クライスラー：愛の悲しみ & 愛の喜び
Kreisler: Liebeslcid & Liebesfreud
クライスラー(1875-1962)は、ウィーンが生んだ偉大なるヴァイオリニスト・作曲家である。「ウィーン古典舞曲集」の第1曲として作曲された「愛の悲しみ」と第2曲にあたる「愛の喜び」は、誰もがきっとどこかで聴いたことがあるというクライスラーの代表作である。
Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) is a violinist and composer of Austrian birth. He was very musically gifted and his works continue to enrich the violin repertory today. Both "Liebesleid" and "Liebesfreud" are two parts of the "Collection of the Traditional Vienna Dance Music" composed by Kreisler.
ラヴェル：チガーヌ
Ravel: Tzigane
ラヴェル(1875-1937)は、現代フランス音楽を代表する、もっとも個性的な特徴ある作曲家のひとりとして知られている。チガーヌとはフランス語でジプシーのこと。この曲はジプシーの音楽を脚色したものである。至難な、さまざまな技巧が織り込まれているこの曲は、ヴァイオリンの名演奏家たちに好まれ、頻繁に演奏されている。
