At the end of August, 2000, the most modern cement carrier of 10,500-dwt CHIHAYA MARU as constructed and delivered to its Japanese owner.
Features
1. The vessel is equipped with BMH (Sweden) cement handling equipment having a loading capacity of 1,500 tons per hour and unloading capacity of 1,300 tons per hour with pneumatic and mechanical systems.
2. In order to save number of crew, the vessel is also equipped with one-man bridge system.
3. The vessel is designed with slender hull to save energy.
4. For increased vessel maneuverability, the vessel is equipped with one controllable-pitch propeller, bow and stern thrusters, and these are controlled by a joystick control unit.
