SHIRANE 77,672-dwt Coal Carrier
The 77,672-dwt coal carrier SHIRANE, built at Tamano Works of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES), was delivered to her owner Dorado Maritime S.A. in March, 2000.
The vessel has a newly-developed wide beam of 36.50 m and five long cargo holds for increased cargo-handling efficiency in the transportation of coal.
Special specifications to cope with the Sea of Japan are employed, including reinforced mooring equipment, etc., as the ship is required to unload cargoes at ports located along the Sea of Japan where sea weather conditions are severe.
The Mitsui Integrated Propeller Boss (MIPB) is provided for energy saving. The SHIRANE was designed using double hull construction for ship safety and cargo-handling efficiency.
