She graduated the composition course of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts & Music. After her graduation, she worked as a part time assistant at her alma mater for 20 year. Until 1992 when she resumed, she ceased from composition for 20 years because of some reasons. Her own composed CD was also released in the same year. "LIVE" suite for Piano, which was released in New York, was appraised and she was introduced as a composer who skillfully fused the Orient and the West on NY Times. She was in charge of both composition and arrangement of all pieces of Nakagawa Masami's two CDs, "CD Dear Friend" and "Magic Flute Tango."
This suite was committed for the concert of New York Guild of Composers in 1998. Next year it was revised. I. Chatter: I composed chatter as such a music that the performer can play freely in speed and expression, though I wrote the standard. II. Meditating Forest: I put my wish to this music. My wish is that human beings can find a way to get along with nature as a part of nature. III. Work Song I've been pleased with Kakegoe (a shout) as one of the Japanese originalities. I noticed the influence of voice and incorporated it into this music. At the last, I expressed the sound of Japanese Drum with piano. From the reverberation of this music, the next music IV. "Lullaby" begins.

After he graduated Tokyo National University of Fine Arts & (Music in 1978, he has been acting as a double bass player mainly in contemporary music. In 1990 Darmstadt International Music Laboratory awarded him Kranich-Steiner Award. In 1994 he was invited as Japanese delegate to the International Double Bass Festival in Avignon, France. From 1995 to 1996 he studied at the University of California, San Diego, as an artist student being abroad of the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
"Once upon a time, they say there was a flute that had double reed, called aulos, in Greece. And they say that the player held two instruments his mouth at the same time to play. I think that alulos might have some relations to the origins of Hichiriki Japanese pipe for court music) and the oboe. But as each instrument has changed so much, I hesitate to say these instruments are friends. This is the reason why I decided to name this piece 'A Friend of a friend of mine'.
