Hirokawa et al., also examined (using a TEM) the internal structure of the 1000 A particles, as shown in Fig. 6. In the interior of these particles there is a boundary layer of 100 A-400 A particles, with an average particle size of 200 A. These smaller particles are composed of even smaller particles averaging 20 A in size.
