These engines were developed focusing on the excellent reliability, excellent durability and great extension of the maintenance interval in the same manner as the other DK series engines.
The environmental maintenance in the engine room was also taken into consideration, achieving the remarkably low noise and vibration level compared with those of the conventional engines. The "product friendly to the earth" is the target of the company, and this low NOx emission leveled engine clears the international standard on NOx emission level of IMO. And further, the fuel consumption of 177g/kWh is on the top class for this category.
These engines are most suitable for not only the main engine in the marine field which is the targeted market, but also for the generator engine for the electric propulsion ship which has been extensively talked about. And furthermore, they can be served for the generator engine in regular service all over the world.
2) Acquisition of verification for NOx emission
The company obtained the statement of compliance for engine air pollution prevention issued by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, which certifies that DK-26, DK-28 and DK-36 type engines comply with technical code on control of NOx emission adopted at IMO, following with DK-20 series of last year.
These applications of the engine family concept provide include all engines of DK-20 series, of which rated power cover 400〜3,300kW, comply with the approval requirements. And DK-20 series engine obtains the certifications of LR, ABS, GL, DNV, BV, CR and CCS, so this series is able to correspond to various acquisitions of EIAPP certifications which is retrospective from January of 2000 for new ships accompanied with the treat validation.
(2) Annual results of manufacture
The annual results of manufacturing engines over 100 PS for marine use in 1999 is as follows,
2.4.6 Diesel United, Ltd.
(1) Development of new model Common rail low speed engine
The Sulzer RT-flex engine is developed for the object of an intelligent engine, like Fig.2.4.6-1.
This is the largest modern diesel engine with a common-rail injection system to operate successfully on heavy fuel oil. Such an engine will monitor its own condition and adjust key parameters for the best engine performance.
