The promotion of the modal-shift from land transportation to marine transportation is expected due to above.

The main propulsion consists of two propellers respectively driven by a medium speed diesel engine. The vessel has good maneuverability by bow thruster, stern thruster and joystick control system.

2.1 Trend in the World1)

According to the Annual Analysis by the magazine of The Motor Ship June, 1999, the total number of ships delivered in 1998 rose from 986 to 1,080, while the deadweight delivered increased by 2% to 36,985,833 DWT. There was also a corresponding increase in the installed output which rose from 11,262,980kW to 12,058,386kW, in spite of increasing gloom in the international shipbuilding market, as shown in Table 2.1-1.

The top five countries remain unchanged, although Spain has moved into sixth place. In terms of share, both Japan and Korea saw a drop while China markedly increased its share.
