(3) With regard to the multigrade lubricant, Pf greatly reduces due to the shear thinning effect while Fmax increases resulting in the severe lubrication condition at the beginning of the expansion stroke. The application of the multigrade lubricant with low HTHS viscosity may result in danger of increased wear and scuffing.
(4) Comparing the calculation results with the friction diagram and the values of Fmax, and Pf obtained from the experiment, it is found that considerably good agreements regarding to the qualitative tendency are obtained although there is a partial disagreement.
