2.3.2 - Phenate detergents

The phenates detergents that have been tested are described in Table 2. They are commercially available overbased calcium additives obtained from additive suppliers.

2.3.3 - Salicylate detergents

The salicylate detergents described commercially available and experimental additives obtained from additive suppliers.

2.3.4 - Polyisobutene succinimides

Three different PIB-succinimides have been added to the overbased sulfonate, B4. The SAE501/BN70 samples tested are identified respectively BD1, BD2, BD3. They all contain 20% w/w of PIB-succinimide dispersant.

　

3. RESULTS

　

The values of V, BN_u and d indicated in the following tables are the average of, at least, five measurements. For each value, the accuracy of the measurement is given by the corresponding standard deviation, σ.

The results obtained from samples blended in 500N/BSS basestocks, are summarized in Table 4, Table 5. Table 6 and Table 8 for the sulfonates, the phenates, the salicylates and the sulfonate combined with PIB-succinimide respectively.
