4. SUMMARY

 

The MEGA is a robust new generation of medium speed diesel engine for marine applications. The main focus is set for the Fast Ferry market. New proven technologies have been applied. The design has been verified by extensive testing. All targets such as performance, consumption and emission have been met.

The start of the Series production has take place. Our production planning allows the delivery of twelve engines in year 2001.

Our development department has just started with the optimization of the engine for burning heavy fuel. After successfully performing that work it is possible to use the new MEGA also in applications like freighters and work boats.

The flexibility of the modern common rail injection system in connection with the electronic engine management allows in addition to optimize the engine for applications like genset - and railway-systems.
