MOTIVATION FOR LEGISLATION:
For on-road and non-road engines, the ground is laid by Directives 88/77/EC (as amended in 2000 for Euro III and IV), and 97/68/EC.
Consequence:
・Truck engines emission of pollutants will have to drastically go down, but not Carbon Dioxide as the transport volume will increase;
・Non-road mobile machinery engines (Cl, Sl) are well under control and further amendments are developed (mainly Cl Stage III), and
・Other polluters are coming in the focus as their share to gas emissions increases as the others decrease.
