1. Transmission error

"The gyro-compass equipment shall provide an output, which is able to reach a minimum transfer rate of 10 readings per second, if a digital interface is used. (6.11.2 Gyrocompass for HSC)"

No standard exists for Magnetic compass.

 

2. Static error

Class A Gyrocompass (SOLAS/IMOA.424(XI). ISO 8728)

±0.75°× secant latitude

Class B Gyrocompass (widely used for the domestic ships and the fishing boats such as less than 500gt ships)

NSI: ±1.0°× secant latitude (The Netherlands's relaxation rules of gyrocompass for small ship)

Class A Magnetic compass (SOLAS/IMO A.382(X)、ISO 449)

±0.5°

Class B Magnetic compass (ISO 613 Class B)

±1.5°

 

3. Dynamic error

≪When a turn rate is less than 5°/sec.≫

Class A Gyrocompass

±1.0°× secant latitude

Class B Gyrocompass
