Situation for actual work items
ISO/CD 14612.2 on Ship's bridge for periodic one-person operation is circulated to member bodies for Study and vote.
Closing date for voting is 2000-05-10.
ISO/CD 17899 on Marine electric window wipers is circulated to member bodies for Study, comments and vote.
Closing date for voting is 2000-06-15
ISO 8468, the general standard for ship's bridges, is currently subject to systematic review.
Closing date for voting is 2000-06-30.
It could be recommended to make the actual updatings to this standard in parallel with the finalising of ISO 14612 after the DIS-voting. The two separate standards are complementary.
New strategy
The new chairman of SC5, Christian Breinholt, has initiated planning for strategies for new ideas for work items in SC5, together with review of the scope of SC5.
Electronic document distribution
The secretariat of SC5 is in the first phase for planning for electronic document distribution in SC5, making use of the ISO/TC Server organised by the ISO Central Secretariat.
