Note Secretariat: I would inform you that after TC8/Plenary and TC8 AG meeting in Tokyo, Chinese delegation for TC8 Plenary and AG, Mr. Xie Wenlan, new Secretary of TC8/SC4 and Mr. Zhang Haiming, China Shipbuilding Industry Corp, visited JMSA on 25 October. to explain the reason why they were late and to know the conclusion of both TC8 Plenary and TC8 AG.
Mr. Ogo and Mr. Koyama explained the conclusions of the both meetings and provided any information, such as the both Resolutions of TC8 Plenary and TC8AG, News letters, and other materials distributed in both meetings.
The Chinese Delegation promised to consider the SC4 issues that were raised in the TC8 AG after coming back to their office. Mr. Gromov expressed the difficulty to proceed the TC8/SC7 work on the point of getting the participants from P members in SC7 and suggested that the possible change of SC7 Secretariat to Germany seems to be appropriate, because Germany is a major country developing standards relating to inland vessels in CEN TC15.
Mr. van Dijk proposed to send a message to Mr. Schade who is in hospital recovering. The item was approved and the message sent.
Mr. van Dijk also announced that it is a very difficult situation for him to continue as a member of the TC8 Plenary and AG as a representative of Denmark, and introduced a possible representative name. Mr. Koyama asked Mr. van Dijk to continue as a member of the TC8 Plenary and AG. All members expressed their strong desire for Mr. Van Dijk to continue in TC8 if at all possible.
