The 30th of September officially closes for me a long and most rewarding period of service within the Organization. I wish therefore to take now the opportunity to express my deep appreciation for your co-operation, support and friendship during so many years. I would, also wish you to convey my thanks to all your colleagues for their help in our common effort to establish a safer shipping sector.
I have no words to express the great privilege of having been able to serve the Organization during the last 25 years which has enabled me to get associated with all those who, like you, hold such high responsibilities, and which has given me so much, both in the professional and in the personal field.
I have at the moment no firm intention as to the future, but committed as I am to the aims and objectives of the Organization and to the improvement of global shipping it might well be that this is not a "Good-bye" but an "Hasta la vista".
