regarding the participation of ISO/TC8 delegates to the Forty-fourth Session of the Working Party on Inland Water Transport, ECE, UN, Geneva 17-19 October 2000
The work of the session was unfolded on the basis of the Provisional Agenda, TRANS/SC 3/152, previously sent to the potential participants and adopted as final, at the beginning of the meeting.
The Session was lead by Dr. Istvan VALKAR, as chairman.
At the first point of the Agenda, "Activities of ECE bodies and other organisations of interest to the Working Party", on behalf of the ISO delegation, at the Chairman's invitation to speak, Mr. Abram expressed the interest of ISO/TC8 whilst Mr. Alexiu expressed the interest of ISO/TC8/SC11 in the Session works, and, generally in the works of the Working Party on Inland Water Transport and, at the same time, the reserve and interest to collaborate.
The most important documents under discussion on the Session's Agenda which present an interest, from the point of view of International standardization are:
1. TRANS/SC.3/2000/1. "Amendment of the Recommendations on Technical Requirements for Inland Navigation Vessels".
2. TRANS/SC.3/2000/2. "Requirements for Prevention of Pollution from Vessels"
(Amendments).
3. TRANS/SC.3/2000/3,4. "Updating the European Code for Inland Waterways (CEVNI)".
(Additions and Amendments).
The most important documents, of considerable significance in general for the domain but which can also present an interest from the point of view of standardization, put at the disposal of the participants are as follows:

b) "Inventory of main standards and parameters of the E waterway network"
c) TRANS/SC.3/150/Add.1 "Reception facilities for the transfer of waste generated on board ships on European Inland Waterways". Addendum 1.
d) CNMI/CONF(99) 2 FINAL; ECE/TRANS/CNMI/CONF 2/FINAL "Budapest Convention on the contract for the Carriage of Goods by Inland Waterways (CNMI)" and "Final Act" from the adoption of the Convention.
e) "International Agreements and Convention in the Field of Transport", prepared under the auspices of the UN/ECE.
