In the discussion of the NAV session, there was the report of the technical working group at NAV 46 which records that the separately-developed ISO standard for THD is to be entrusted to include the test methods, so IMO requests ISO to cooperate in the preparation of technical standard for test methods. (Reference is made to NAV participant's report: SC6 N67 for detail.)
It is planned that, hereafter, SC6/WG8 will be established and the draft text reparation for THD will be commenced.
The subject devices are required to be installed on board ships in accordance with the provisions of the new SOLAS Chapter V (to be enacted in July 2002), so it is requested that the relevant ISO standards are published on the date of preferably one year before, at the latest a few months before until the date of 2002-03.
