.4 Changes since last ISO/TC8 plenary: Korea (CSK) continues to be completely unresponsive to Sub-committee correspondence and ballots, and by letter of 1999-07-15, the Sub-committee so notified the Central Secretariat in accordance with Directives 1/1.7.4, and requested that the Central Secretariat remind CSK of its obligation to participate. If ISO/CS has taken any action with regard to this matter, we are not aware of it.

2 Changes since last ISO/TC8 plenary: By resolution 27 (Washington 2000-05-15/16), the Sub-committee agreed to consolidate working groups 1 (Lifesaving equipment) and 2 (Pilot and accommodation ladders) into a single working group entitled "Lifesaving appliances and arrangements." The former convener of WG2, Mr. Robert L. Markle, will continue to be the WG1 project leader for projects relating to pilot and accommodation, ladders. The Sub-committee has not yet decided the future of the convenership of WG3 in light of Mr. Abbate's appointment as Subcommittee Chairman.

1 Published standards (9):
.1 ISO 799:1986, Shipbuilding -- Pilot ladders; in revision, sub-stage 40.20. DIS balloting terminates on 2000-11-01.
.2 ISO 5488:1979, Shipbuilding -- Accommodation ladders. At its meeting in Washington 2000-05-15/16, the Sub-committee reaffirmed its intention to revise this standard, taking into account the work done on the related ISO/DIS 16848 Pilot accommodation ladders. However, the NWIP and working draft are still in preparation.
.3 ISO 5489:1986, Shipbuilding -- Embarkation ladders - By letter NWIP ballot completed 2000-07-02, the Sub-committee decided to add revision of this standard to its work programme. At its last meeting (Washington 2000-05-15/16), the Sub-committee achieved consensus on a Committee Draft, which is undergoing final editing in preparation for circulation for ballot.
.4 ISO/TR 6065:1991, Shipbuilding and marine structures -- Inflatable liferafts -- Materials.
.5 ISO 6067:1985, Shipbuilding and marine structures -- Winches for lifeboats; periodical review 1996, currently in revision.
