Piping system Lines
Piping system lines
・are a functional representation of a piping system;
・represent the logical connectivity of the system -a collection of nodes and arcs;
・correspond to piping lines found on P & ID's;
・may be connected to functional plant items through functional connectors
・contrast piping system line as a functional view of a piping system with a functional plant item as a functional view of the plant item.
・Complete representation of functional capabilities of system is outside scope of AP 227
Piping System Line Segments
Piping system lines are composed of piping line segments.
There are few consistent rules for segmentation of a line or how the segments correspond to physical plant items; some common rules are that nodes/segment terminations exist at:
・equipment inlets and outlets;
・line inlets and outlets (e.g., drains and vents);
・significant changes in the characteristics of the process stream ;
・junctions.
