1 Adoption of Agenda, Attendance & Apologies
The meeting opened at 8.05 am. The provisional agenda previously distributed as paper AGM4/1 was adopted, but with item 4 Election of Executive Committee for 2000 moved to the end of the agenda.
The names and signatures of 36 attendees and the names of the 26 member institutions represented are in Attachment 1, which forms part of these minutes.

The Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on 22 October 1998 at Shanghai Maritime University distributed as paper AGM4/2 were adopted.
