It was decided by secret ballot that the venue for the 2000 AMETIAP AGM/ Conference will be the Australian Maritime College and the offer by the Fremantle Maritime Centre to also host the meetings was acknowledged with appreciation.
Upon being advised of their plans for retirement next year, the meeting unanimously expressed heartfelt thanks to;
Dr Moustafa Aziz of the International Maritime Organisation; and
A/Professor Colin Brown of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University;
for their strong support and significant contributions to the establishment of AMETIAP.
6 4th Annual General Meeting
The offer by the Tokyo University of Mercantile Marine to host the 4th Annual General Meeting and associated activities was accepted with thanks and it was agreed that the dates would be 9-11 November 1999.
7 Closure
The meeting closed at 1118 hours with a vote of thanks to Shanghai Maritime University and to the Shanghai Marine Safety Administration for the excellent arrangements and services provided in the hosting and sponsoring of the 1998 Annual General Meeting, Conference and associated activities, specific gratitude being expressed for the work done by Professor Fang Quangeng and his colleagues and to the post-graduate students assigned to assist participants and other visitors.
