The EXCO discussed at length the "incorporation" of AMETIAP as a legal entity. It was noted that this was considered important by IMO as it was normal practice for IMO to channel funds through a legal entity. It was agreed to seek other mechanisms than the one proposed by Bishops.

The need for continuity of EXCO membership at this early stage of AMETIAP's development was discussed. All members expressed a desire to continue to serve on the EXCO and it was agreed that the Chair should make a statement to this effect at the AGM. It was also recognized that an election would be necessary should another member be nominated.

The topic for the year 2000 Conference was considered with "After the White List - What next?" being supported as a suitable working title for a conference dealing with quality, its management and standards. Items for consideration could include:
- benchmarking in MET (SP).
- ranking of MET institutions (SP).
- assessing performance in training, post graduate and research work (TUMM).

7. Executive Secretary
The EXCO agreed that the performance of the EXECSEC during 1999 warranted the payment of the full amount of the bonus, namely US $2000. The EXCO recorded its thanks to the EXECSEC for his work on behalf of AMETIAP. The EXCO agreed to re-appoint Capt. Short as EXECSEC for 2000 with an annual honorarium of US $7200(payable at US $600 per month) and a performance bonus of up to 10% of revenue, such bonus to be approved by the EXCO and to be subject to available funds.
It was agreed to develop a duty statement for the EXECSEC position, in conjunction with Captain Short, for approval by the EXCO.

The EXCO agreed that payments to the EXECSEC for attendance at workshops were legitimate extra payments. It noted that such attendance should, in future, be justified in advance by the EXECSEC communicating the rationale and number of days in attendance to the Chair. The Chair to notify other EXCO members and on receipt of their response notify the EXECSEC of the outcome.
