Thus, the sea level changes in the bay are seen to have a weak effect on the current and temperature changes induced by the Kyucho. The sea level rise in Sagami Bay can be estimated as only 3 cm from the stretching of the water column by the density decrease of 0.3 kgm-3 from the sea surface to 70 m depth, assuming the hydrostatic approximation. Then, a significant sea level rise related to the temperature and current variations due to the Kyucho cannot be expected for the baroclinic motion. The sea level changes along the coast of Sagami Bay are considered to be mainly due to the barotropic motion.
