RECOMMENDED TRACKS OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST FOR COMMERCIAL SHIPS OF 300 GROSS TONNAGE AND ABOVE AND FOR COMMERCIAL SHIPS CARRYING HAZARDOUS CARGO
1 Northbound commercial ships 300 gross tonnage and above (other than those described in number 3 below) should maintain the distance off the California coast established by a recommended track between the following two points:
.1 15 nautical miles off Point Sur (36°18'.31"N; 122°12'.79"W)
.2 12.7 nautical miles off Pigeon Point (37°10'.86"N; 122°39'.74"W)
2 Southbound commercial ships 300 gross tonnage and above (other than those described in number 3 below) should maintain the distance off the California coast established by a recommended track between the following two points:
.1 16 nautical miles off Pigeon Point (37°10'.83"N; 122°43'.87"W)
.2 20 nautical miles of Point Sur (36°18'.29"N; 122°18'.98"W)
3 Commercial ships carrying hazardous cargo should at a minimum, maintain the distance off the California coast defined by a line between the following two points:
.1 25 nautical miles of Point Sur (36°18'.27"N; 122°25'.16"W)
.2 25 nautical miles off Pigeon Point (37°10'.81"N; 122°55'.14"W)
