Domestic Tourism Promotion Conference
In response to a recommendation by the Council for Tourism Policy in June 1995, the government set up a council to promote domestic travel in September of the same year. The new conference was mandated to initiate a comprehensive movement in the entire domestic tourism industry to actualize policies for promoting domestic travel, including major systemic changes. The Domestic Tourism Promotion Conference drafts an action plan based on recommendations by its advisory panel, engages in discussions for implementing the plan, and examines general measures to actualize promotional policies. Eight working groups have been set up to hold discussions of specific themes, such as the promotion of traveling by the elderly and the handicapped, and the promotion of mid to long-stay vacations. Each working group sets up model district study groups as required to implement model projects
