II. Infectious Disease

"Law concerning the prevention of infections and medical care for patients of infections" has been enacted in place of the old Law concerning the prevention of infection on 2nd Oct.,1998.

 

(1) Infectious disease of Japan

◎Category 1 infections (infections whose infectivity, severity, etc. suggest extremely high risks)

1]the Ebola virus 2]Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever 3]plagues

4]the Marburg virus disease 5]Lassa fever

 

◎Category 2 infections (infections whose infectivity, severity, etc. suggest high risks)

1]acute poliomyelitis 2]cholera 3]shigellosis 4]diphtheria 5]typhoid fever

6]paratyphoid fever

 

◎Category 3 infections (infections that do not carry a high risk but that may cause an epidemic to occur in a population of people that are engaged in specific work)

1]enterohemorrhagic Esherichia coli infection

 

◎Category 4 infections (infections to be prevented by the Government's provision and disclosure of information)

1]influenza 2]viral hepatitis 3]yellow fever 4]Q fever 5]rabies 6]cryptosporidiosis

7]acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) 8]genital chlamydial infection 9]syphilis

10]measles 11]malaria and 47 others

 

◎Designated infections (infections as set forth by the Ministry of Health and Welfare ordinance for which guidelines on prevention are prepared)

1]influenza 2]acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) 3]genital chlamydia infection

4]genital herpesvirus infection 5]condyloma acuminatum 6]syphilis

7]gonococcal infection

 

◎New infections (infections that have emerged in an entirely new form)

 

(2) Quarantine infections of Japan

1]the Ebola virus 2]Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever 3]plagues

4]the Marburg virus disease 5]Lassa fever 6]cholera 7]yellow fever
