(4) Currency
The unit of Japanese currency is Yen(\).
Bank notes are issued in the following denominations:
1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 Yen.
Coins in usage are 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 Yen.
In view of exchange rate fluctuations, delegates are advised to check the exchange rate before leaving for the meeting.
For the sake of convenience, delegates not carrying any Japanese currency are advised to obtain some Yen at the airport currency exchange counter upon arrival.

(5) Tipping
In Japan, tips are not necessary anywhere, even at hotels and restaurants.
(6) Local time (Tokyo)
Tokyo local time is 9 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.
(7) Electric power
The electric current supplied in Japan is 100 volts throughout. However, there are regional differences in frequency : 50 Hz is used in eastern Japan, including Tokyo. Westerm Japan, including Kyoto, Osaka, uses 60 Hz.
