5.3 Download a document

To download a document click with the right button of your pointing device on the entry Fetch to the right of the document you wish to download. The Netscape-Browser displays a window which contains the option Save Link as ... Indicate to which location on your system (i.e. disk drive and folder) you wish to download the file.

IMPORTANT: The Netscape-Browser assumes by default that the file is an HTML-file and adds therefore automatically the file name extension *.html. If your file is not an HTML-file, please overwrite in the Save As.. menu the extension *.html with the correct file name extension (e.g. *.doc for a Word-file, *.ppt for a PowerPoint-file, etc.). The MS-Internet Explorer (version 5) seems to be able to identify the correct file type, so that this problem does not occur.

5.4 Print a document

To print a document, just use the print option of your browser/reader or your word processor, depending on whether you use the "View" or the "Fetch" option.

6 Indication of new and modified items

6.1 New items

All items (folders, documents etc.) which have been newly added to the server, are identified with the symbol of a yellow light bulb directly after the name of the new item.

6.2 Modified items

An arrowhead with a circle attached after the name of an item indicates that this item has been modified.

The time the two symbols are displayed are defined by the system administrator In the current installation the symbol for a new item remains for two consecutive days and the symbol for a modified item for seven days.

7 Search for documents and folders

By default, the full text of all files on the ISOTC server is indexed. It is therefore possible to search with all terms which appear in the text of files which exist on the server. Whether a file is found depends on whether a user has access rights to the particular documents on the server. Only those documents will appear in a list of search results.

To search enter a search term in the data input field of the horizontal search bar above the list of entries. By default a search is conducted from the current hierarchical position you are currently located in the ISOTC serer folder structure ("From Here") to all folders at lower levels. Alternatively, you can specify that you want to search all areas of the ISOTC server which are accessible to you and you can choose the option "Enterprise" instead of "From Here".

A search results in a list with entries of file names and folder names which have been found based on your search criteria. Click on a particular file name, which will directly open the file.
