11. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL LIAISONS

 

11.1 IACS

Mr. Robin M. Bradley of IACS delivers the appreciation of the invitation to participate the TC8 Plenary meeting in Tokyo and explained the present condition of the Rule making in IACS.

Mr. Robin M. Bradley expressed his expectation that there is a lot of opportunity for increased future cooperation between ISO/TC8 and IACS in the field of the technical standards.

The chairman agreed with Mr. Bradley that the future cooperation both ISO/TC8 and IACS should be increased each other.

 

11.2 IAPH

Mr. Rinnosuke Kondoh of IAPH delivers the appreciation of the invitation to participate the TC8 Plenary meeting in Tokyo and explained about the present condition of the IAPH that has established in 1955 and consists of 230 members from 83 countries.

Mr. Rinnosuke, Kondoh expressed his expectation to continue a very good liaison between ISO/TC8 and IAPH having been done since the past.

The chairman expressed that the future liaison both ISO/TC8 and IAPH should be continued each other, specifically in step with the establishment of TC8/SC11, Intermodal short sea shipping.

 

11.3 ICS

Nothing to report on ICS.

 

11.4 ILO

Mr. Hopkins explained that there are potential items in the future to develop the ISO standards in SC3 with ILO. Therefore liaisons with ILO is necessary from now. The Chairman expressed his opinion that Ergonomics would be an important factor with regard to a future liaison with ILO in the field of ship's environment of the crew and its labor.

 

11.5 WHO

Mr. Hopkins explained that there is the potential in the future to develop the ISO standards in the field of asbestos and in terms of safety of the crew with WHO.

Therefore liaisons with WHO is necessary from now.

Next Resolutions are approved for 11.4 and 11.5;

 

Resolution 186

ISO/TC8 accepts that;

1) Contact is to be made by SC3 with the WHO (World Health Organization) with a view to establish a liaison.

2) Existing ILO liaison will be increased by SC3 and to consider the potential value to ILO of standards recently developed in SC3 and to explore other areas of potential mutual interest.

 

11.6 IMO

Mr. Miguel Palomares of IMO delivers the appreciation of the invitation to participate the TC8 Plenary meeting in Tokyo and explained the present condition of the Rule making in IMO. Mr. Palomares expressed that IMO always regards the ISO/TC8 activities as important.

 

Regarding the communication between ISO/TC8 and IMO, IMO recently established an electronic communication system and is available to access this from TC8 side using the password and the username.

Mr. Palomares suggested to be given TC8/SC members the passwords and the usernames.
