(d) ISO/CD 16329 (Heading control systems for high speed craft)[06.15]
As a result of voting on the 1st CD, it was found that the provisions of 2.5.6 of the ISO Directives were complied with, and it was agreed that the next consideration stage should be ISO/DIS. However, (i) many comments were submitted by SC 6 members and IEC/TC80 members and (ii) technical amendments were performed to sub-clause 4.3.12 "Heading stability" of CD 16329 by referring to the opinions of Germany and China as ISO/TC 8/SC 6 members. Under these circumstances, it was decided that the next consideration stage should not be ISO/DIS, but voting should be performed at the stage of ISO/CD again.
At present, voting by SC 6 members and IEC/TC80 members is in progress on the 2nd CD 16329. (closing date: 27 August)
(2) Work item under which IEC/TC80 prepares draft standards and opinions from SC 6 and IEC/TC 80 members are taken into account when considering the draft
(a) Draft IEC 62065 (Track control systems)[06.18]
Several international meetings have been held so far to consider a WD. The SC 6 Secretariat sent SC 6 members materials including a draft obtained from the IEC/TC80/WG 1 TC Convener, and took action such as (i) asking them to submit comments on the draft and (ii) requiring their participation in the related WG of IEC.
Therefore, there is no trouble in communicating information.
It is planned that, when the contents of the draft have solidified at IEC/WG, the draft as ISO/CD will be put to voting by ISO/TC 8/SC 6 members, in accordance with the provisions of the ISO Directives.
9.4 IHO Specification M-4 (Navigational chart)
The results of the talk between Mr. Abram and the IHB Director, Rear Admiral Neil Guy, on making IHO Specification M-4 into an ISO standard have brought forth the following points as problems.
(1) IHO should take charge of the maintenance work of M-4.
(2) When the maintenance work is performed by IHO, some ISO members representing ISO should take part in the work.
(3) If both sides agree on the above two points, Mr. Abram performs the work proceedings of "ISO cover-sheet system" under which the contents of M-4 are published as an ISO standard under cover of ISO. For this process, English and French versions of M-4 are necessary.
(4) The draft regarding "Navigational chart" under "ISO cover system" is required to be prepared after the detailed opinions of ISO/TC 8 and IHO members have been heard.
It is planned that in order to solve these problems, talks between both sides will continue to be held henceforth also.
9.5 Liaison with IMO/NAV
Of all the problems taken up by IMO/NAV, there are many which are closely related to the work items currently under consideration by ISO/TC 8/SC 6.
Therefore, so far mainly the ISO/TC 8/SC 6 Chairman, as ISO representative, has attended the NAV sessions and has been maintaining a close relationship between IMO and ISO.
Prof. Shoji of former chairman of SC 6, as ISO representative, will attend the 45th NAV session to be held from 20 to 24 September 1999.
It is planned that detailed contents of the session will be reported by an IMO/NAV attendance report which will be prepared separately.
