1.4 The Technical Working Group was instructed to consider all relevant documents submitted under agenda items 6, 7 and 8 and, taking account of all decisions of Plenary:

.1 prepare draft MSC resolutions for adoption of performance standards on, as appropriate :

.1.1 shipborne satellite radionavigational receivers;

.1.2 night vision equipment for high-speed craft;

.1.3 daylight signalling lamps; and

.1.4 devices to indicate speed and distance.

.2 advise on the issue of a reassessment of resolution A.860(20) - Maritime Policy for a future Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), if necessary as a result of unforeseen developments on specific proposed future GNSS;

.3 advise on the proposal by Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Spain (NAV 45/7/4) to amend resolution A.860(20) - Maritime Policy for a future Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), as appropriate, specifically the minimum user requirements for a future GNSS;

.4 advise on the issue of practical difficulties with Differential Correction Systems in achieving the performance required of resolution A.815(19) - World-Wide Radionavigation System;

.5 prepare a draft SN Circular containing guidance on chart datums and the accuracy of positions on charts taking into account NAV 45/7/2 (IHO) and the views expressed;

.6 advise, as appropriate, on information provided by ICAO (NAV 45/INF.6) on the outcome of the third meeting of the Global Navigation Satellite System Panel (GNSSP/3) held in Montreal, 12-23 April 1999;

.7 prepare as appropriate, recommendations, opinions and liaison statements to appropriate ITU bodies (agenda item 8); and

.8 if time permits, consider NAV 45/6 (Germany) and NAV 45/6/1 (IEC) concerning ergonomic criteria for bridge equipment and layout, and provide comments and recommendations, as appropriate, for making further progress in the matter.

WORLD-WIDE RADIONAVIGATION SYSTEM

Assembly resolution A.860(20) on Maritime Policy for a Future Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)

2.1 The Working Group considered NAV 45/7/4 (Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Spain) outlining discussions on a future GNSS within the European GNSS Maritime Advisory Forum - specifically identifying potential maritime applications and associated user requirements relevant to a future GNSS. The "List of minimum maritime user requirements for a GNSS (Appendix 2 to the Annex of resolution A.860(20))" had been reviewed and extended, in particular for non-general maritime navigation applications.
