OUR COMPANY
The PERMALUX® and a-line® history started with the Norwegian inventor Gunnar Krokeide already in 1971 when he manufactured his first photoluminescent signs and paint. Gunnar Krokeide pioneered the photoluminescent industry and his ideas have subsequently been imitated by many companies around the world.
Permalux® is today involved into major developments in the photoluminescent industry.
The brand name was established in the marine sector already in 1979 with the first ever installation of a photoluminescent Low Location Lighting System onboard a Stena Line Ferry.
Since then an impressive number of ships, airplanes, buildings, train stations, warehouses, factories and power plants have relied on the Permalux® quality all over the world. Permalux® covers an extensive range of high quality photoluminescent safety marking products in the marine, aviation, land and military sector.
The brand name a-line® is used for a newly developed and patented Low Voltage LED Low Location Lighting System.
The new generation EL LLL system
The a-line® L.L.L. System genuinely represents a new generation in safety guidance technology. When designing the system P.E.R.'s principals took heed of the problems which the first L.L.L systems inevitably have presented. Chief amongst these have been reliability, pricing, cost of installation and maintenance. Whilst each of these points and many others have been taken into account for the new system, a-line® also incorporates unique features which make it a genuine contribution to shipboard safety.
Reduced installation costs
a-line® has a fully electronic databus distribution which significantly reduces installation, maintenance and check time costs. A study has shown that the average cost of installation of first generation electrical L.L.L. systems compared to the cost of the system itself was 1:1.2.
a-line® installation is greatly simplified and installation costs are expected to be significantly reduced, due to the use of modular design.
Watertight - not splashproof
All parts of a-line® are protected to IP68 thereby ensuring no ingress of dust or water.
In developing the new system particular attention has been taken to the fact that water ingress has proved to be a problem with first generation systems, most of which have an IP 65 rating or lower.
