Dear Capt. Piersall,
In addition to our fax of 25 February 1999 we would ask you to consider the following to the Exception Report of ISO/TC 8/SC7 to the meeting of Advisory Group of ISO/TC 8 in Galati, Romania 1995-05-04/05:
1. Revision of standards ISO 3935:1977, ISO 3548:1977, ISO 4001:1977 and ISO 6217:1982 is included into the programme of work of SC 7 from 1977 (for 1999 stage of their revision in 90.00 as before) . The secretariat of SC 7 has asked ISO/CS (the letter of ISO/TC8/SC7 N 26 dated 1998-12-17) to exclude their revision from the programme of work of SC 7 on the stage: 90.60 and include once more the revision of these standards into 1999, but not it will be in accordance with the Form 20 ISO. The secretariat of SC 7 also asked to include into 1999 revision of ISO 3372:1975 and IS03513:1977 add.1:1980, as the items on revision of these standards were excluded from the programme of work of SC 7 in 1995, and the secretariat of SC 7 suggested to withdraw these standards as far back as 1995. See also doc. ISO/TC 8 N 1000R3 dated 1998-12-21, pages 22, 23. Copy of letter of the secretariat of SC 7 to ISO/CS dated 1998-12-17 was sent to the Chairman of ISO/TC 8 by the letter nr. ISO/TC 8/SC7 N27 dated 1998-12-23. However, revision of these six standards of SC 7 for 1999 according to the form 2C ISO is not envisaged by ISO/CS for the meantime (letter of Mr. Klaus-G.-Lingner, ISO/CS nr. ISO/STAND/EXAM: dated 1998-12-15) (see also doc. ISO/TC 8 N 931 dated 1999-01-22,-Annual Report of ISO/TC 8 for 1998 and doc.ISO/TC 8/AG n 533 dated 1999-02-16, - ISO/ITC 8 Report, prepared by Mr.F.Abram, ISO/CS).
2. The secretariat of SC 7 consider revision of standards of SC 7 ISO 6205:1983, ISO 6219:1983, ISO 7545:1983 and ISO 7606:1988 to be completed in 1998: all 4 standards are approved for the next 5 years by five or six out of seven P-members of SC 7, who took part in voting (see our letter to ISO/CS dated 1998-12-17 nr. ISO/TC 8/SC7 N26 and nr. ISO/TC 8/SC 7 N 28 dated 1999-01-12; copies of both letters were also sent to Chairman of ISO/TC 8; see also doc. ISO/TC 8 N 931 dated 1998-01-22, - Annual Report of ISO/TC 8 for 1998 and doc. ISO/TC 8/AG N522 dated 1999-02-16, - ISO/TC 8 Report, prepared by Mr.F.Abram, ISO/CS).
Secretariat of SC 7 consider it necessary to:
a) make use form 20 ISO also for the first revision of standards (in 5 years after their publication);
b) change criteria of standard approving (see letter ISO/STAND/EXAM dated 1998-11-26, page 2). In the capacity of basic criterion for standard approving for the next 5 years there will be approving of this standard by more than a two thirds (2/3) of the P-members of subcommittee voted.
