1 OPENING OF THE MEETING
The meeting is opened by the chairman. A special welcome is addressed to Professor Taguchi, the former chairman of ISO/TC 8 and the AG.

3 ROLL CALL OF PARTICIPANTS

The meeting is attended by 22 participants, from 9 member countries (Denmark, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, UK, USA) and 2 organisations in liaison (IACS, IMO). The attendance list is annexed to this report.
Apologies have been received from Mr.Szemro (Poland), Mr.LiPeichang (China, who retired) and Mr.Hukkelberg (Norway).
Role and membership AG
・8 AG N 515-Membership AG
The chairman announces that it is his intention to introduce a roll revision of the AG and a more strict interpretation of the membership, between now and the next meeting. Professor Hengst asks attention for the fact that standardisation is based on volunteers and that we have the risk that we loose the interest of those who are supporting if we do not explain the reasons behind such a change. Mr.Van Dijk states that a review after some years is normal. The chairman concludes the discussion by expressing that we will see where the interest lies, and that we are only looking for members who can give a positive contribution.
Note secretariat: Just after the meeting we were informed by the Bureau of Indian Standards that the representative of India (Mr. Vijayaraghavan) was to be replaced by Mr.A.R.Gulati, (with mailing copy for information to Mr.M.M.Bansal).
4 APPOINTMENT OF EDITING COMMITTEE
The same editing committee from the plenary meeting is appointed (Mr.Hime,USA and Mr.Slot,UK), in case any Recommendations have to be drafted.
