Members of Tokyo Sting Quartet
ミカエル・コぺルマン（第1ヴァイオリエスト）
1996年11月、前任者のピーター・ウンジャンにかわり第1ヴァイオリエストとして入入団した。ロシア・ウクライナ生まれ。6才よリヴァイオリンを始め、モスクワ音楽学院にてマイア・グルザロヴァ、ユリー・ヤンケルヴィッチ両教授に師事する。1973年ジャック・テイボー国際音楽コンクールで2位に入賞する。ポリショイ劇場オーケストラ団員、モスクワ・フィルハーモニック・オーケストラのコンサート・マスターを務め、1976年にポロディン弦楽四重奏団の第1ヴァイオリエストに指名された。
池田菊衛（第2ヴァイオリエスト）
1974年、第2ヴアイオリエストとして入団。東京生まれ。桐朋音楽学院でヴァイオリンを鷲見三郎氏に、室内業を斉藤秀雄氏に師事。1971年渡米後、ジュリアード音楽院の特待生としてドロシー・ディレイ教授に師事、ジュリアード弦楽四重奏団の一員でもあった。毎日、NHK等の国内音楽コンクール、ワシントン国際弦楽コンクールで優勝。渡米前はソリストとして在京オーケストラと共演。渡米後もイタリア、ニューヨーク、日本各地でリサイタルを行った。
磯村和英（ヴィオリスト）
1969年、東京クワルテットの創設者として参加。桐朋音楽学院でジーン・イスナルド、小林健次、斉藤秀雄の各氏にに師事。渡米後は一時ナッシュヴィル・シンフォニーの準コンサートマスターを務めていたが、室内楽への懇望もだし難く、全額奨学生としてジュリアード音楽学院で、ヴァイオリンをイヴァン・ガラミァン、ポール・マカノウィツキー両氏に、室内楽をロパート・マン、ラファエル・ヒリアー両氏に、ヴィオラをウォーター・トランプラー氏に師事した。
原田禎夫（チェリスト）
1969年、東京クワルテットの創設者として参加。父よりチェロの手ほどきを受け、11才の時斎藤秀雄氏に師事。桐朋音楽学院を卒業後、毎日、NHKのチェロ・コンクールで優勝、毎日室内楽大賞も受賞し、国内演奏旅行を行う。東京交響楽団の首席チェリストを務めた後、渡米し、アスペン室内オーケストラ及びナッシュヴィル・シンフォニーのチェリストとなる。その後、室内楽の研鑽を積むため全額奨学生としてジュリアード音楽院で、クラウス・アダム、ロパート・マン、ラファエル・ヒリアー各氏に師事した。
Mikhail Kopelman (1st violinist)
Joined the Tokyo String Quartet in 1996 as its new first violinist. He replaced Peter Oundjian, who stepped down from the post after playing with the ensemble for 15 years. Kopelman was born in Ukainian city of Uzhgorod, and began violin studies at the age of six. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory. In 1973, he won second prize in the Jacques Thibaud International Competition in Paris. He was first violinist of the Borodin String Quartet for two decades. From 1980-90 Kopelman was on faculty at the Moscow Conservatory.
Kikuei Ikeda (2nd violinist)
Born in Tokyo and studied violin at the Toho Gakuen School of Music with Hideo Saito. He went to NY in 1971 to study under Dorothy DeLay and members of The Juilliard String Quartet at The Juilliard School of Music. Ikeda won several prestigious prizes in Japan, US, and Portugal- ARer playing chamber music with numerous ensembIes, he joined the Tokyo String Quartet in 1974.
Kazuhide Isomura (violist)
Graduate of the Toho Gakuen School of Music where he studied with Hideo Saito. He then went onto The juilliard School of Music for further study of chamber music. Isomura is a founding member of the Tokyo String Quartet. He also records solo viola repetoire for MusicMasters/Musical Heritage Society.
Sadao Harada (cellist)
A founding member of the Tokyo String Quartet, Harada began his cello studies with his father and continued them with Hideo Saito when he was 11. After graduating from Toho Gakuen School of Music, Harada won the First Prize at the Mainichi and NHK Cello Competitions. He was the youngest principal celIist of the Tokyo Symphony prior to going to the USA, where he became the cellist for both Aspen Chamber Orchestra and the Nashville Symphony. Harada entered The Juilliard School to pursue chamber music.
