バッツィーニ(1818-1897)は、イタリアのヴァイオリニストで、晩年のパガニーニにすすめられて、パリをはじめ各地で名人芸を発揮して高い名声を得た。このロンド形式のヴァイオリン曲は、パガニーニ的技巧曲で演奏には非常に高度な技術を要し、チェコの名ヴァイオリニスト、エルンスト(1814-1865)に捧げられた。ピアノの前奏に続き、ヴァイオリンの飛ぶようなロンド主題で始まり、演奏の非常に難しい重吉、フラジオレット、左手のピッツィカートなどをふんだんに使って華々しく終わる。
Italian violinist and composer, Antonio Bazzini (1818-1897) was encouraged by Paganini and began his concert career at an early age, and became one of the most highly regarded artists of his time. He was much admired as a violinist by Schumann and Mendelssohn, among many others. Being a violinist himself, Bazzini composed this well-known piece "La Rondo de Lutins" requiring highly technical passages with staccato, flageolet, as well as left-hand pizzicato.

サラサーテ(1844-1908)は、パガニーニと並び称せられる19世紀のスペインが生んだ大ヴァイオリニストで、自らが演奏するために高度な技巧を駆使した多くのヴァイオリン曲を作曲している。彼の代表作として名高いこの曲は、ジプシーの音楽が題材となっており、ヴァイオリン演奏のあらゆる技巧がこの曲に結集されていて大変魅力的な作品である。全曲は三つに分かれ、第一部の哀調に満ちたモデラートと、弱音器をつけて「きわめて表情的に」甘美な感情にあふれる第二部と、まったく対照的な奔放さあふれる第三部からなる。第三部では重音の速いスタッカート、フラジオレット、左手のピッツィカートなど演奏に名人芸が必要とされる。
Spanish virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate (1844-1908) is also known to have composed highly technical pieces for violin, comparable to those by Nicolo Paganini. Sarasate was keenly attracted to varieties of folk music from all over the world. This famous piece, "Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs)" was drawn from Hungarian folk music. Its structure centers on the slow, melancholy third theme, which is instantly recognized by all Hungarians. The first movement starts out with moderato and moves onto an expressive and sweet second movement using a mute. The expressive and sweet second movement using third movement is full of highly technical passages with staccato, flageolet and left-hand pizzicato.
