WEST VENTURE Semisubmersible Drilling Rig
West Venture is the first fifth-generation semisubmersible drilling rig with the following most advanced features incorporated. The rig is under construction at Hitachi Zosen Ariake Works.
(1) Norwegian Rules (NPD, NMD)
The Norwegian rules (NPD and NMD), which are well known as the most stringent rules in the world, are fully applied for safety of the rig.
(2) Appropriate for Variable Deck Load
The rig can bear an appropriate VDL (5,500 t) for very deep water operation.
(3) Full DPS and Operating Water Depth
The rig can be operated under fully automated dynamic positioning mode by means of eight (8) azimuth thrusters in very deep water. Design water depth is 1,500 m.
(4) Automated Drilling Equipment
Most part of drilling equipment are well automated in order to produce high efficiency, reduced personnel and safe environment for drilling operation.
(5) Installation/Maintenance for Subsea Equipment
The rig also can carry out installation/maintenance of sub-sea equipment as well.
