The 2,474-gross-ton oceangoing large tugboat KOYO MARU ordered by Nippon Salvage Co., Ltd. and Japan Ocean Tug Co., Ltd. was completed on June 15, 1998 at the Shimonoseki Shipyard & Machinery Works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI).
Features
1. One (1) two-drum-type towing winch (Holding capacity of 200 T and winding capacity of 45 T) for a 150m long rope and 1,200 m long wirerope is installed.
2. Two (2) sets of powerful 5,000 BHP Main Engine drive two (2) CPPs with a Kort Nozzle each.
3. Combined use of two (2) Schilling rudders and bow thruster with a Joy Stick System achieve excellent maneuvering.
4. Integrated Bridge System (IBS) is adopted for one-man operation.
