TAKUO Tuna Fishing Research and Training Vessel
The tuna fishing research and training vessel TAKUO was completed by Niigata Engineering Co., Ltd. on January 30, 1998, and delivered to its owner, the Ministry of Fisheries of the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga, on the same day.
Features
1. The vessel uses a well deck design to facilitate tuna fishing research and training activities.
2. It is equipped with two different systems for tuna fishing (the conventional Japanese type and the U.S. monofilament type).
3. For safe navigation, the vessel is equipped with two radar devices, of which one is provided with Automatic Radar Plotting Aids to help prevent collision with other vessels or any other hazard.
4. The vessel has two quick freezing rooms capable of rapid freezing to -40℃ and three fish holds with a -30℃ refrigerating capacity.
