The 4,082 TEU container ship SEA-LAND CHARGER was built at Kure Shipyard of Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., and delivered to Sea-Land Services Inc. on March 31, 1997.
She is the sixth of nine sister vessels for the same owner to be engaged in Far East/US West Coast route.
Features
1. The ship carries maximum of 4,082 TEU containers, 10 rows across and 8 tiers high in cargo holds, 13 rows across and 5 tiers at most on deck.
2. 350 units of self-contained air cooled reefer containers can be loaded. (112 units in hold and 238 on deck)
3. Most cargo holds are configured for 40' containers with minimizing exclusive 20' bays. 20' containers can be loaded using cell guides arranged for 40' with twin-twenty loading scheme.
4. No. 10 hatch (P/S) serving the aft bay of No. 5 cargo hold has special length to accept 45' long containers. The cell guides are placed for 45', but 40' containers also can be loaded by means of fixed special support system.
5. Electric power generating system consists of three diesel generators of 2200 kW and an emergency generator.
